Corporate Social Investment
One of Mhlathuze Water’s core values is accountability whereby the utility states it will make itself available to its customers and remain accountable to its stakeholders at all times. That of course does not leave out social accountability which is a core value that drives the initiatives to areas where it operates and other nearby underprivileged communities. According to the utility Corporate Social Investment is an ideal tool that can bring about a permanent change in this lovely country by ploughing back into communities, so that it assists in making a sustainable difference to the future of millions of citizens.
Mhlathuze Water focuses on several key areas its social investment programme such as poverty alleviation, education, arts and culture, life skills, sports and the environment. However, recently more focus has been on education. The Constitution of South Africa states that ‘everyone has a right to basic education’ and the government of South Africa acknowledges the role of education in the social and economic development of the country. Therefore there is a serious need to join forces with other strategically partners and face the challenges experienced by rural communities especially those closer to us.

Mhlathuze Water hands over an ablution refurbishment project to Nguluzana Primary School in Nseleni. The project cost close to R1 million and brough relief to learners and teachers alike who previously did not have enough ablution facilities.
